Sketchup and MODO 401

California-based Luxology LLC created modo 401, a Digital Content Creation tool that brings the next evolution of 3D modeling, painting and rendering in a single incorporated and accelerated package. It has Collada support through the modo COLLADA plug-in. Collada is an open-source, XML-based file format for 3D content creation tools extensively applied in streamlining mixed-application 3D workflows. The COLLADA format will be used for interfacing with Google SketchUp. MODO includes 3D sculpting tools, animation and network rendering and with COLLADA exporter it can
output geometry with normals and multiple UV texture coordinate sets, lights, cameras, materials, effects, and transform animations.

SketchUp V- ray is ideal for development of film productions and multi-million dollar game productions.

About V-ray
V-Ray is a rendering engine that is used as an extension of certain 3D computer graphics software.
The core developers of V-Ray are Vladimir Koylazov and Peter Mitev of Chaos Software production studio established in 1997, based in Sofia, Bulgaria.
It is a rendering engine that uses advanced techniques, for example global illumination algorithms such as path tracing, photon mapping & irradiance maps are directly computed global illumination. The use of these techniques often makes it preferable to conventional renders that are provided as standard with 3d software, and generally renders using this technique can appear more photo-realistic.

Use of V-ray
V-Ray is used in the development of film productions and multi-million dollar game productions.
It is also used extensively in making realistic 3D renderings for architecture.

Compatibility of V-ray
V-Ray is compatible with packages such as Sketchup, Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, Rhino, True Space, Maxon Cinema 4d, Blender and Softimage XSI, and is compatible with 32-bit and 64-bit architectures.

V-ray for SketchUp
The power of V-Ray is now paired with one of the most easy to use modelers, SketchUp. V-Ray gives SketchUp users the freedom to express their sketchup models in completely new ways. With V-Ray users have the capability to take their ideas from conception to full realization.

Top studios all over the world use V-Ray
V-Ray's robust ray-tracing engine and vast array of materials give designers the ability to generate photorealistic images of outstanding quality. Top studios all over the world use V-Ray because of its rendering capabilities, making it the only rendering solution that will allow them to render at the time of designing.

V-Ray and Google's SketchUp
ASGVIS also developed the V-Ray rendering plug-in for Google's SketchUp, which works with both the free and pro versions of SketchUp 7. The latest build, version 01.48.66, released on February 10, 2010 and works on both PC and MAC OS platforms.

V-Ray for SketchUp Features:
• (New) More shader types (great for metal textures!)
• (New) More than 10 new procedural textures, including dirt (for more realistic renderings!)
• (New) Lights now have the ability to add IES profiles (for light accuracy)
• (New) Material can now be layered better
• (New) Faster scene processing times
• (New) Support for SketchUp transparency and alpha transparency
• True reflections and refractions
• Glossy reflections and refractions
• Global Illumination allows for photorealistic lighting
• Soft shadows support
• True HDRI support
• Fully multithreaded raytracing engine
• Native SketchUp materials supported and integrated into V-Ray materials
• Material editor with material preview
• Sun and sky system
• Physical camera
• Depth-of-field camera effects.
• Distributed rendering allowing a single image to be processed over up to ten machines
• Per material GI, background, reflection, and refraction
• V-Ray two-sided material for easy creation of thin translucency
• Animation support

V-Ray for SketchUp System Requirements:

SketchUp users can efficiently incorporate the task of rendering with V-Ray
SketchUp is one of the most widely used and easy to learn 3D Modeling software on the market today. With V-Ray for SketchUp, users now have one of the most powerful rendering tools available to visualize their models with the utmost quality and realism. V-Ray works within the SketchUp environment allowing users to be able to efficiently incorporate the task of rendering within their current workflows.
